The Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematics in Uppsala facilitates novel and exciting joint research between the mathematical sciences and other disciplines and industry. Our aim is to engage mathematics directly in science by using mathematics to understand real world systems.
CIM currently has vacancies for two Postdoc and four PhD positions. These researchers will work on on interdisciplinary project combining mathematics/modelling and an application in an area related to complex dynamical systems, e.g. in chemistry, biology, economics etc.

New study reveals the rules of interaction of shoaling fish
CIM's researchers Richard Mann, Andrea Perna and David Sumpter have, in collaboration with biologists in Sidney, detemined the rules of interraction of mosquitofish. The study was recently published in PNAS.
