CIM Workshop on Mathematics and Medicine, November 6-7, 2014

Workshop theme

Mathematics enters our daily lives in a myriad of ways. In this workshop we will explore how mathematics is employed in medicine and pharmacy. The topics span many different areas of both mathematics and medicine, from medical imaging on the microscopic level, via medical control systems and numerical simulations on the organ level, to medical decision making and therapy design on the individual or even group level.

Invited speakers

  • Peter Gennemark, AstraZeneca, Mölndal

  • Metin Gurcan, Biomedical Informatics, The Ohio State University, USA

  • Johan Hoffman, Department of High Performance Computing and Visualization, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm

  • Andrew Hooker, Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Uppsala University

  • Rebecka Jörnsten, Mathematical Sciences, University of Gothenburg/Chalmers

  • Michael Lustig, Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, UC Berkeley, USA

  • Inger Persson, Department of Statistics, Uppsala University

  • Josien Pluim, Medical Image Analysis, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands

  • Stina Svensson, RaySearch, Stockholm

  • Pierre-Frédéric Villard, Computer Graphics and Computer Vision, Lorraine University-Nancy, France

All talks will be given in room P2446, Polacksbacken Building 2, 4th floor, northwest corner. Lunches take place at Eklundshof (very close to Polacksbacken). The dinner will be in room P4308, Polacksbacken Building 4, 3rd floor. This map shows where the different buildings are located relative to each other.
