Chaos theory is a very fascinating branch of mathematics that tries to answer questions like: Why can't we give an accurate weather forecast for the next month? The answer is that it is not because we lack of good measurement equipment nor good mathematical models. On the contrary, the models are very well understood: they are chaotic! In this talk I will introduce what chaos theory is and it is not. For example, I will discuss the difference between chaos and randomness.
Prerequisites: An open mind and some first year calculus.
