REPRESENTATION THEORY AND ITS APPLICATIONS

How to get to Uppsala from the airport Stockholm-Arlanda:

The best way to get to Uppsala from Arlanda is by train. Train runs approximately 2 times an hour and leaves from the Arlanda train station for long distance trains. To reach this station one should go to the "Sky City" -- the part of the airport, which is quite close to Terminal 5. Just follow directions "Sky City" and "Long distance trains". Please, note that directions "Trains" and "Stockholm Express" are not good, they will lead you to the terminal of Stockholm Express trains, going to Stockholm, which is opposite to Uppsala. Coming to the central hall of "Sky City" you will see the doors leading to elevators and escalators to the platform. Tickets can be bought either directly on train for cash. This costs 110 SEK. Another possibility is to by them at the desk in front of the doors to elevators in the hall of "Sky City". This costs 80 SEK, but can be paid only by a credit card.  The travel to Uppsala takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

Another way is to take bus Bus 801, which  leaves every 20 minutes (every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays), usually from the stop nr. 13, which you will find just leaving the arrival hall through the entrance doors. Youc an also try to follow directions "Bus". The trip lasts about 35 minutes and costs 80 SEK. The bus arrives to the central station of Uppsala.

For those, who will be accommodated at Hotel Eklundshof, a better choice would be Bus 802. This one usually goes every hour and the trip takes about 70 minutes. However, it will take you directly to Eklundshof without any change. You have to leave the bus on the stop "Ångströmlaboratoriet", which is in front of the Mathematical Institute. You will see how the bus will turn left on the cross nearby. Do not follow the bus and continue along the road after the croos and you will come directly to Eklundshof in 2-3 minutes.

You can also plan your trip online using tågplusguiden.

How to get to Uppsala from the airport Stockholm-Västerås:

Bus 941 will take you to Västerås central station, from where you can take a train to Uppsala. To plan your train trip, please, use tågplusguiden.

How to get to Uppsala from the airport Stockholm-Skavsta:

You can reach Stockholm using the special  airport bus, see the information at  flygbuss. From Stockholm you can take a train or buss. This trip you can plan using tågplusguiden.

The public transportation in Uppsala:

Uppsala is relatively small. Every part of it can be reached by buses, which operate regularly. Almost all buses meet in the center of the town (part called "The City" even in Swedish), where you can change the bus if necessary. A regular bus ticket costs 20 SEK and is valid for 90 minutes without other restrictions. In some locals one can also buy a reduction card (Värdekort), which can be loaded with multiples of  100 SEK. With this card one trip costs 13 SEK during working days and 11 SEK between 9.00 and 15.00  and on weekends. There is a deposit of 75 SEK, refundable when you return the card.

How to reach Hotel Eklundshof and Mathematical Institute

To reach Department of Mathematics from The City, take bus 17, 20, 22 or 71 (or bus 50 in the  evening and during the weekends) form the stop "Dragarbrunsgatan" or "Stora Torget", direction to Ultuna or Gotsunda. Just make sure that it will go to the stop "Ångstömslaboratoriet" on which you should leave the bus. This stop is front of the Department of Computer Science (house nr. 2) and Department of Mathematics (nouse nr. 3) is slighly to the right of it, everything across the street.
This bus trip takes approx. 10 minutes.  The conference will be held in house nr. 6, which you will see, when you walk into the campus area around the Computer Science building. The main lecture hall for us is room 6140, also called MIC-klubben, entrance from the left side of the building. Parallell sessions will also be held in the lecture room 6002 to the right of the main entrance with the sign "Rullan". To go to Eklundshof, cross the road, turn to the left an proceed along the road down the hill. You will be in Eklundshof in 2-3 minutes.

How to reach Akademihotellet from the Central Station

Akademihotellet is within 10-15 minutes walking distance from the Central Station. However, a part of the walk is uphill. Leaving the Central Station, go diagonally to the right and in about 300 meters you will come to the cross with Drottninggatan. Turn left ang go along the Drottninggatan through the central square "Stira Torget", then cross the river and proceed uphill almost up to a big yellow building in front of you (this is the central university library Carolina Redeviva). The street before the library is Övre Slottsgatan and Akademihotellet is about 50 meters to the right on this street. Alternatively you can take bus nr. 5 from the Central Station, direction Stenhagen. Leave the bus on the stop "Universitet", which is at the end of Övre Slotsgatan. The Hotel is about 200 meters from the stop. A taxi from the Central Station to Hotel should be under 100 SEK.
